My i7 6700k does not go above 3995 MHz

I recently bench marked my system in 3dMark. While undergoing the CPU intensive part of the test, the frequency didn't go above 3395 MHz, even when i enabled turbo boost. I also suspect that this problem is causing some of my other games to stutter a bit. How could i fix this? Thank you for your time.

What is your cooling solution, and what temperatures do you have on the package and on the cores? This could be caused by thermal throtteling (i.e when the CPU forces itself to run slower due to overheating). Alternatively, it could be how Intel's Turbo Boost technology works. The CPU cores need to exceed a certain usage level before the feature kicks in (easily said), however since this happened in a synthetic benchmark test, which (i presume) pushes the CPU quite hard, it should kick in allright.

had similar issues in the past, i suspect you might have the voltage set to manual and override, I sugest to go into ur bios and set ur CPU voltage to adaptive - and set the voltage to 1.20 if you dont plan to overclock

I use a corsair h100i v2 water cooler to cool my CPU. I usually dont get temps higher than 60c

Sorry for not responding. I have tried resetting to the bios defaults, no luck there. And when I ran the tests again, i realized that usage changes between 99% to 100%. I also ran the diagnostic tool, and there was no problem. I use an EVGA 650 GQ power supply. As far as i know, the CPU is getting enough power.

There certainly seems to be no issue there. Have you updated your system drivers recently? If not, do that. Perhaps you could try to update the BIOS aswell, if you have the availability to. Strange issue, this.

Yeah, it is quite odd. I updated the bios, and system drivers are updated.

I see. I have one final idea of what might cause this. What power plan do you use in Windows (if you use Windows, ofcourse)? Make sure that it's not in Power Saver, or similar, as that may prevent the CPU from overclocking.

It's in high performance mode, and i checked that the max and min power is both at 100%.

Yeah, i have been in contact with them, and hopefully we reach a solution. Thanks for all the help.
