Installing Chromium OS on an Acer laptop

I have an Acer laptop that I would like to turn into a chromebook as it has difficultly running Windows and I've heard Chromium OS lighter, all other guides I've found online are outdated, can someone help me.

This one is not that outdated. Getting an install media, though, is not that easy, as the official site does not provide one.
You should know what to expect from Chromium OS, though - it's just a browser, or browser-based apps.

For your slow laptop, light-weight Linux distro like Mint XFCE might be much better choice.
