Hey guys, so 1st of all i search and search but didnt really find the awnser.

I want to upgrade my graphics to a MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X 6GB, but its PCI 3.0, and my motherboard is PCI 2.0.

I know it can work, but my question is, with my current CPU and RAM, will work fine or it will bottleneck/stuttering? (I mean not work proper)

And btw, GTX 1060 MSI Gaming X 6GB needs add power from PSU so is my PSU alright? Or need a stronger one?

So, my PCs specs are:

Motherboard: MSI B85M-G43
CPU: I5-4460 3.2ghz
RAM: G-Skill RipJaws 8GB DDR3 1600mhz
GPU: MSI GTX 750Ti OC 2GB
HDD: 1TB WD
SSD: 120GB Samsung
PSU: Corsair VS650

Thanks all!

Solution
There really is no problem using PCIE 2.0 at x16.
The problem usually happens due to the computer itself being older, so the CPU and RAM are outdated and slower.
Especially the case if it has DDR2 RAM.

From my experience with two GTX660s in SLI, I can only run them with PCIE 3.0 x8, so they only get half of the PCIE bandwidth each.
This means that my GPUs are essentially running off of PCIE 2.0.
I have no problems with performance.

that link from hardwaresecrets i posted is fairly new. they used a gtx 980ti (pretty high end GPU) on some newer games. it shows no appreciable performance difference between pcie 2.0 and 3.0 as long as the slot is an x16 slot. i'd trust the person/website actually performing the tests over someone who is making guesses off the cuff

so the short answer is: no it won't be a problem especially with a gtx 1060 6gb
