What is the Gauge for a Motherboard Power Switch Cable?

So I'm trying to make an extended power switch for my PC, which requires me to extend a 2-pin power switch cable by soldering in some extra wire.
However, I have no idea what AWG I'm looking for in a cable. I've seen posts of everything from 16 to 18 awg to 24 awg.
I picked up some 18 awg thinking I had this figured out but I've found other sites that actually list the AWG of replacement cables they provide, and StarTech has an HDD LED connector cable with 24 awg, which plugs into the exact same pin header as a power switch cable.

My question is, how do I know what awg to go with? Or is it safe to use wires that are a Close gauge without it being quite the same?

Just realized the gauge is 26 awg; turns out it Was printed on the wire casing.
Pretty new to this, which is why I wanted to be precise between wires, even though I've been seeing lots of people say that there's usually a bit of wiggle room, depending on what you're wiring up. Trying to self-teach without risking a fire.
