My girlfriend has an iPhone 5S through U.S. Cellular. I purchased the straight talk BYOP activation kit, when I inserted the AT&T SIM (to make sure the phone would accept a SIM from a different carrier) it told me the carrier was TFW. I was wondering if when I transfer her number will it cancel her line or the whole account on U.S. Cellular? She is under her mom's plan so there are other family members on that account. We just want to transfer her number.

Be very careful if she really needs to keep her current telephone number.

Most likely whoever manages your girlfriend's plan (most likely her Mom) will need to contact U.S. Cellular and ask the question.

Basically that her daughter is moving to another service provider and wishes to transfer her number - what is the process?

Once that is known you then go to StraightTalk/TFW (verify) via your BYOP activation kit and tell them here is the number being transferred.

See what they say must be done and when.

Get the transfer all planned out and documented. Know the details and what to expect.

We almost lost a decades old family telephone number because a rep was literally too lazy to bother with the "transfer a number" part when we changed providers.

We actually went ahead and went through with it. We used the AT&T SIM card provided in the BYOP activation kit, we then transferred her number online after activating that specific SIM and providing the account details. Her number was transferred successfully within a matter of an hour or so and it didn't have any effect on her mom's plan (U.S. Cellular) aside from that number being removed.

I tried this as well with limited success. Okay kind of..

I've owned a Galaxy S5 for a few years, and I had to terminate my USCC Plan prematurely. I have the phone and for awhile thought you COULD NOT use the S5 on the Straight Talk network.

I proved that wrong just this weekend after rooting and making one adjustment to the phone's programming. It now works, however, I do not have LTE Access; Only 3G.

When you transitioned from USCC to Straight Talk on your iDevice, Did you get LTE Access, or no? If you did, I Might need to use the ATT Sim Card instead of the Verizon one (Because it originally was in a Verizon Prepaid device before I tested it in the S5)

I know I am far delayed in this response but yes, she gets LTE service with the AT&T card
