I have an i5 4460 CPU so I don't really need to upgrade
I have a GTX 950 but I want to start recording without weird dips. Although the card is a great card i've been wanting to buy a new card for a while now to keep upgrading. (i7-6700k in a couple months)

I'm looking around the 200 USD card range and I've been eyeballing the 1060's and I've come across 3GB and 6GB 1060 cards. I don't know the exact difference and I'll be playing games such as Overwatch, CSGO, League Of Legends and Minecraft. Would the extra 3GB's matter or not?
Is it worth the 50 dollar difference? Will it bottleneck?
3GB = 200 USD
6GB = 250 USD
My friends also suggest saving up and buying both the GTX 1070 and the i7-6700k at the same time. Is that a smarter decision? (answer the above questions first as this one isn't as important)

Solution
since u r going to upgrade both gpu and cpu. i would suggest 1070 now and ryzen 5/b350 combo later or the price slashed 7700k/z270 ?
but if ur budget prevents it, a 1060 6gb is also good.
but if u want something better than 1060 but not as costly as 1070, the r9 fury is a good choice. provided u have a good psu...
The 1060 3gb isn't just less VRAM, it's a cut down chip. At this price point, the RX 480 4gb is actually a better choice as it is equal to the 1060 3gb in DX11 but pulls ahead in DX12 and Vulcan. The 480 4gb is the same chip as the 8gb but will half the VRAM and that VRAM clocked lower.

Between the 1060 6gb and RX 480 8gb, they are pretty much even across the board. 1060 is ~2% faster in DX11 and the 480 ~6% faster in DX12 and Vulcan (averaged of several games). They are close enough to make them a draw and I just recommend getting whichever is cheaper.

As to the 1070, it might be a good idea to wait and save up. AMD has Vega coming out in a few months and it could potentially drive prices down or offer better performance for the money at that price.

All I hear is bad things about AMD so I don't want to go down that lane. Might aswell stick with what's working for me.

Everyone says AMD is bad and I'm used to hearing people having issues with it.

well, your money your choice :)
from what I hear, RX 480 4GB (non reference design) is excellent card - especially considering pricing. 50-80$ difference is a huge gap.
Who are those everyone ? someone that can be trusted ?
If you determined to go with GTX 1060, get the 6GB version.
GTX 1070 is useful for 1080p@144Hz, 1440p and higher res monitors.
