I just purchased a Corsair Bulldog small form factor PC kit. After getting finished installing the components in the computer when I booted up the computer, I heard fans spinning and then the computer turns right off after a couple of seconds. I know the CPU fan is spinning. I Have went through the trouble shoot thread that is popular on the site and still no solution. I have disconnected the SSD, the HDD, the GPU, and one of the ram sticks. I booted up the computer with just the CPU, the one ram stick, and the PSU and the computer still shuts off after a couple of seconds. I have reapplied the CPU cooler and I have refitted the ram into the slot. The 24 pin connector is in the motherboard and connected to the PSU and the 4 pin is connected from the motherboard to the PSU. I have reassured the these were properly connected. Any ideas on what to do?

The parts that I have in the build.
Intel Core i5 7600K
Hydro Series H5 SF Liquid Cooler
600 W Corsair SFX PSU
Ballistix Sport LT 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR4 2400 (Currently only one stick installed)

Seagate 2TB FireCuda 3.5-Inch SATA 6Gb/s 7200-RPM 64 Cache Gaming SSHD (Currently disconnected)
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (Currently disconnected)
Zotac GTX 1070 Mini (Currently disconnected)

you need to have these things connected...

-cables coming from the power supply and going into motherboard-
24 pin connector
8 pin(sometimes 4) cpu power connector

-from the cpu cooler to the motherboard-
4 pin connector into the cpu 4 pin header

-from the case's front panel-
reset switch and power switch into the jfp1 header

also make sure to use 1 ram stick for this to simplify things... and make sure it is in the correct slot as listed in the motherboards manual. it's not always in the first one. my motherboard for example requires if i use 1 stick for it to be in the 2nd slot

I am looking at the motherboard diagram and I only see a 24 pin ATX connector and a 4 pin ATX connector. There is a 4 pin cpu fan connector. I see that the 4 pin ATX connector is to power the CPU.

well then there is your problem. a very common one for people lately. you bought a z170 motherboard but you should have bought a z270 motherboard. you have a kaby lake (example i#-7###) cpu. the z170 motherboards are meant for a skylake (example i#-6###) cpu. the only way z170 motherboards work with kaby lake cpus is if you have a skylake cpu installed in them first, and follow the boards instructions on flashing the bios to accept kaby lake. z270 motherboards support kaby lake from the start.

your best bet is probably to see if you can return the motherboard and purchase a z270. they may let you do that if no pins are bent. if not, I saw on here earlier where Fry's electronics will do the BIOS flash for you for a small fee. I think they said $20 or something like that.

Wow, well that is quite silly, hope i didnt damage anything from all of restarts it's been doing. I will see it there is a way I can get the motherboard to accept this new gen cpu as the nearest frys from me is a 2 hour car ride.
