My ram is too small (in physical size) for my motherboard but it locks in perfectly. Would it be safe or work at all???

Do you mean a Low Profile DIMMs ?

A Low Profile memory is a half height full-pcb common memory stick, it looks smaller than common memory stick but comes with the same capacity as a common memory sticks. So yeah, if you a referring to a Low Profile memory, then yes, it would work perfectly, as long as your system supports it. For general use, such as Office and Browsing the web, a low profile memory sticks doesn't make any difference and still safe as well. but for gaming, heavy load system, and memory intensive tasks, i would recommend getting a better memory sticks with full pcb design and a heat spreader, in case you're using it for a long period of time.

basically to rephrase your question, "if a ram fits, will it work?"

take a look at the first comment in this forum: http://www.instructables.com/answers/If-RAM-fits-is-it-compatible/

also can you post a link to what type of ram it is and the type of mobo ur using it for

Yeah sounds like it, just to be safe i'll research a bit more. I'll only use it temporarily and upgrade,

If its a LPDIMM (Low Profile Dual-In Line Memory Module), then it should be fine as long as your motherboard supports it and can boot fine with no problem.
