During the build the GPU was making the computer not POST. Once I installed the drivers it POSTED, but the GPU seems fail during the boot. I got a tip that the GPU didn't work with some mobo's specifically because it's one that doesn't need external power. I'm probably going to exchange it I was just wondering if it sounded like it could be another problem. Radeon settings picks up on the GPU it just says it's disabled, but it's not under device manager.

GPU: Radeon Rx460 2GB
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-F2A68HM-H
PSU: EVGA 500w plus

Unfortunately, your motherboard does not support power draw from the PCIE lane. You should return it.

You could get older R9 cards used off of ebay for a similar price, and then use that in your system, or you could buy the XFX RX 460 with the 6 pin power connector.

I personally cherish the older R9 cards, and I suggest looking in the area of a 280, 280x, 290 and 380 (make sure it's more than 2gb) if you plan to purchase one. The 280 has similar performance to the RX 460, but of course, it is an older card and has higher power draw.

As I thought. I'll return it and post what happens. I think I'll stick with the same GPU just a different version. Thanks a ton.

I've tested about 7 computers now with power flow issues through the motherboard, and a lot of mid and low tier motherboards tend to not reach their full power pull capacity from the pcie slot. Usually only around 50-60 watts maximum. Sometimes low-profile computers have had these problems at times too.
