recommendation or input on my computer situation?

Hello, I have been saving money for a new computer for at school. With the razer blade 14 in mind. beautiful machine, great specs in such a tiny package, but the price is way up there, with my budget being around 2100-2200 I will be able to (hopefully) get one through Microsoft store with the upgraded ssd. with my student discount and after insurance and tax, it ends up right in that range.

currently my situation is where I have a desktop at home, but i refuse to bring it to school, mainly due to space concerns of being able to even fit it. I also had a msi 17 inch gtx 960m laptop. which was strong enough for my competitive game play needs, but obviously lacking when it comes to some more demanding games. I ended up selling it after about a year and a half of ownership, because that thing was not portable at all, it sat stationary for god knows how long, made me think what was even the point of having a laptop. the battery life was next to none, and forget taking it to class, when our desks are half the width of that laptop (i use an asus transformer book for notes and on the go, portable, but the thing lacks power and ram big time)

so ive been very interested in the razer blade, especially now the kaby lake version is out and worked out many of the kinks the skylake one had, where its the best of both worlds, its a gtx 1060 i7 quad core in a 14inch laptop that can go anywhere and have 6+ hours of battery life. but the price tag still kind of gets me, and makes me thing well whats going to happen when the value drops to 50% of what i purchased it for and i cant upgrade it.

so i thought well, i can go and build even a gtx 1070 mini itx computer(as small as possible to keep at school) for say 1200 with an i5 or ryzen equivalent. and then buy a second hand macbook pro 13, if its sub retina, upgrade ssd and ram, if it is retina, then buy it maxed out, a budget of 1000 remaining could leave for a decent year and model. I am somewhat a fan of mac OS but i cant make the switch completely obviously due to gaming. but a macbook pro 13 and a 1070 desktop would also fit my needs for the most part, I'd have a powerhouse that fits on my tiny excuse of a desk at school that would outperform the razer blade, and then I have something to bring on the go, to class, or anywhere to do schoolwork, and have substantial battery life. by the way im a sucker for aluminum laptops if you haven't figured that out already. the only real drawback is I now cant take that power with me anywhere. for normal stuff the macbook would be perfect for, even some light video editing. but i would think I would be content if i could at least play cs go @ around 1080p low settings at 60 fps. which an older one is right on the edge of doing, a few hundred extra and i could get a newer one that could definitely handle it.

regardless of what i do, i think i want to end up with some kind of mac to get into the world of xcode (if i go with the razer blade, i will most likely end up with a 150 dollar macbook from like 2008. So, what do you guys think, i know its ultimately my choice, but let me know if im going crazy or being completely ignorant or what. In a perfect world i would love all three computers together, but i don't have 4 grand so...

I know whatever decision i make I'll be missing out on something, thanks for at least reading through this lol.

Gaming laptops simply do not provide the battery life you will need for class. Unless you are going to be a professional gamer or XCode developer. Those are hobbies and their consideration should be secondary. Your primary need is a good laptop for class.

I would suggest getting a good ultrabook. One with excellent battery life and decent performance. Luckily they don't have to cost an arm and a leg. A Lenovo Yoga 710 would make for a great 2in1 ultrabook. It is thin and light. Battery life is excellent. The SSD is roomy enough for college work. It has an excellent screen. While it offers ample performance.

Then you can use your remainder for a mini-ITX desktop. With mini-ITX you don't have much air space so you need to get hot air out right away. In that light, I would recommend a blower style GPU and liquid cooling. Assuming there are good AM4 mini-ITX and you won't be needing this for a while. You may want a Ryzen R5 1400x. Potentially saving money and gaining performance. I assume you will reuse the same keyboard, mouse, hard drive and monitor.

Use your remaining money for a cheap used Mac Mini that runs macOS Sierra, an HDMI/Displayport + USB + audio KVM switch and security cables so people can't walk off with your tempting trinkets. Perhaps just try running macOS as a VM in Virtual Box and just get the security cables. Then spend the remainder on superior parts.

Don't forget you will need a printer and backups.

See that's where the razer blade really changes that, as it's a full fledged vr ready gaming computer that can get enough battery life for class. I however am most likely going with the building a desktop and getting a MacBook for class option. I've already gotten my build planned out for the desktop. But yeah, I'm really not feeling a Windows ultrabook. At least with the razer blade it has some power behind it.
