CPU: i5-6600k
GPU: Asus Strix GTX 960 4gb
HDD: WD Blue 1tb
SSD: Samsung 850 250gb
Cooler: Cooler master 212 evo

Solution

1920x1080 on every game

In League of Legends, Runescape or CS:GO I have no frame drops, but if we move to H1Z1:Kotk or just a little bit more demanding GPU game then it gives huge drops. Like H1Z1 runs 120fps all the time, but drops frames all the time. Same thing with every other game.

FPS rises, but the frame drops still happen. I can play Tom Clancys: Wildlands on medium/high with 70 fps all the time and having huge drops which makes the game unplayable. If I play it with low or very low graphics the fps is 120-140, but *still* the frame drops happen.

Umm... Not sure about that. I have OC'd it a month back as I thought it could help me. It was just OC'd by 22% and the performance remained same. When I play H1Z1 my CPU usage is 40-70% if I'm right.

Does the old files just get replaced if I install the new drivers? If no, where do I delete/find them?

Done, I'll let you know will it keep on doing this in 12 hours. I'll try to play as many games as possible and run of different graphics.

Still having frame drops. I downloaded MSI afterburner and checked that my GPU is running on 40Celcius all time while playing. I also did a malware/virus scan with F-Secure (Finnish antivirus program) Malwarebytes and Windows defender. Only windows defender found 3 harmful files which are Keygen cracks, I deleted them just in case 'cause I didn't even need those anymore.

Download something like Open Hardware Monitor and plot your CPU and GPU temperatures.

This doesn't sound like a problem with overheating but it's a PC so god knows...

It might be a problem with RAM actually, and the PC having problems with accessing it. You'd experience FPS drops when the PC has to wait for RAM read/writes...

What RAM do you have, is it properly placed in dual channel and did you try moving it to the other dual channel? Dual channel is the 2x light or 2x dark RAM slots. if you accidentally placed 1 RAM stick in each it'd cause problems.

If it's not RAM try updating the motherboard BIOS.

If it's not motherboard BIOS it might be a PSU problem where for some reason it doesn't provide enough "umph" for your GPU/CPU.

Last, but not least, try a different graphics card and see if you see FPS drops. If there are no drops it means you have to RMA the card.

I'm running on 8GB or HyperX DDR4. I did place them a bit weird as I remember. Like my CPU fan was blocking the way so the easiest way was installing them on the light slots. And my RAM is usually 100% even if I use Chrome, Spotify, etc. May that be the problem?

As long as the 2 sticks are in the 2 "light" slots it's fine. If you mixed them it'd be worse.

To answer, yes, it surely is a problem if your RAM is always fully in use.

Are you sure your PC sees all 8 GB? Post a screenshot of your windows Resource Monitor - Memory tab.

Looks good, seems RAM is not the problem.

So, it's either CPU overheating or a faulty GPU.

First play games and see CPU temps. If they are not above 70C thats not the problem either.

Then try a different graphics card.

I ran GTA V benchmark and I had smooth 60FPS with huge FPS drops to 30-40 all the time which made my eyes hurt...

Here is result for GPU: https://gyazo.com/98c1b4b9ffa4430505e58bc9a85fb5a4

And here is for CPU: https://gyazo.com/5d596bb6db1a6667770056d9339b6cd8

For me the problem seems to be GPU, that almost 70 celcius temp looks pretty nasty.

70C is nothing to worry about, it's a perfectly normal temperature for a GPU under load. If it was 94C and not 64C then I'd be worried.

Seeing as it's not RAM nor overheating, you'll need to check with a different GPU. Borrow one from a friend or use an older one if you have it.

I'll try with my friend's GTX 1060 when he gets it. I'll try to uninstall and install the card again if that might help.

Well, it looks like the problem was my 0db fan. I had my fans disabled on my GPU so it had to drop frames to avoid overheating. It's fine now. Thanks to you all who helped me.

I did reset my PC. After the reset my PC was working hella fine, I got over 30fps+ on all games compared to my last playtimes and no drops. I guess I had something overheating my GPU. Try resetting your PC and if that doesn't help you, try installing asus's GPUTweak2 and turning your fans on manually. Let me know if this helped you!
