Hello.i have a dell Psu With Single 8 pin(not deatachable) cpu motherboard connector.
but my motherboard has 4 pin cpu connector.
So yeah i have and dead psu which have 4 pins, thinking to cut it off and connect it with 8 pin psu connector.
I Want to know Which 4 pins from 8 pin connector i should use wires on?? And is it safe at all if its worth it?,Since its just for few days, later i will buy new psu.

DO NOT CUT OR SPLICE IN CONNECTORS. No it is not safe or worth it.

Theres 2 scenarios here, either one side of that connector will fit in the 4 pin jack. Or that PSU is not compatible. Dell sometimes uses proprietary PSU setups and that 8 pin connector may not be a CPU connector. Does that PSU have a 24pin motherboard...

Take a close look at the side of the connector that plugs in, you will notice the plastic pins are not identical, this prevents a person from plugging the incorrect plug in. Dell power supplies and motherboards are not always designed or built the same as all other manufacturer components.

Most likely that Dell PSU is low wattage, you'd probably want to replace it anyway.
