Dirt showdown won't launch

Bought dirt showdown today to play with friends... Installed it and... It won't run. Starts to launch but then immediately crashes. 'exe stopped responding'. I've tried everything I can find, reinstalling, verifing game catch, reinstalling gfwl, modifying hardware.xml... Nothing changes anything. Still crashes. I'd sincerely appreciate some help.

sometimes its just because of windows or other software you have installed etc

had this happen to me before

so i did a totally clean install of windows on a second hard drive on the same pc just out of hoping as nothing i had tried would fix it

the games that wouldnt launch properly worked perfectly on the clean install

though still got no idea if it was a windows problem or some conflicting software problem or what it was to be honest

other than that all i can suggest is

if your anti virus has a gaming mode turn it on

update your directx though usually you get an error message if its that but wont hurt

and run sfc /scannow in an administrator command prompt to see if it finds and fixes any windows file errors

then other than a clean install in case its something conflicting with the game nothing else i can think of

other than check your graphics drivers are up to date

My graphics drivers are not up to date. I have an rx 480, and am running Amd's driver 16.10. The newest driver is 17.2.1. I haven't updated since I tried the update and it messed up my monitor overclock. I've since reverted to 16.10

Another thing, my monitor usually stays black when it wakes from sleep, it wakes, but the screen stays blank; i have to manually press the button on the monitor to turn it off then on again. Could that also be related? I've had trouble with other steam games in the past, especially with dirt games, but other steam games as well. I did a clean install of windows in the past, and it did not solve the blank wake up screen problem.

Could my monitor, or i dont know, maybe my gpu somehow be causing these issues?

Hmm. Mine's connected with dvi. See, when I try loading the game, my screen flashes black, the system plays some kind of noise going down the scale, then up again. The game then starts to load, and immediately crashes. This noise and flash suggests to me something isn't being displayed right, whether that is a software or hardware issue I don't know. I've tried literally every 'fix' on google and none work.
