The most effective way to speed up your computer is to upgrade the parts with newer, faster components.
In order to overclock your CPU, the motherboard has to support overclocking. I'm not sure that your motherboard does.
You could try running some anti-spyware programs and scanning for viruses. Maybe even reinstall Windows. These things could potentially speed up your computer. If you need recommendations on which programs are effective, just ask.
