Hi, we now have Spectrum/Time Warner internet (300Down/100Up) using a Netgear NightHawk wireless router. We are having trouble with the WiFi signal in the rooms farthest from where the router is (Both our Firestick & Chromecast keep dropping the signal. My son set the wireless up but is unable to come by & help so I am trying to figure the best way to fix the problem. Don't have any spare money to buy a new wireless router so I've been looking online at articles with suggestions on what to do. Online posts show everything from using an old wireless router as an extender or an access point but I am not sure what is the best way to go forward. I do have an old FIOS G1100 router but I can't find any instructions anywhere to configure it to be either an access point or an extender, nor am I sure those are the best choices. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Oh , I should have mentioned that we did try a little plug-in extender but it didn't help. That's why I thought using the old Verizon G1100 would be better.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from oldpops : "Is it possible to use an old FIOS G1100 as an extender or access point?"

Hi we have some dead spots in our home where our wireless signal keeps dropping signal. We are using a Netgear Night Hawk wireless router and I am wondering if we can use our old FIOS G1100 router as either an access point or an extender, and which would be better. If is is possible, does anyone know where I can get some specific instructions?
