Q9550 Worth Upgrade?

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Worth the Upgrade??

Hello! I have an older system and I was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade my cpu to the Core 2 Quad 2.83GHZ? The games that I play often crash, and I think it is due to the fact that my current CPU is too slow. I am planning to build a brand new system in the future, but I need to save up some money first. I found a Q9550 and a CPU cooler on ebay for $80 CAD. Should I upgrade the CPU or wait and build a new system?

Current Build:
Windows 8.1 64bit
Intel Pentium E5200 2.50GHZ
4GB DDR2 Ram (board is limited to 4GB)
Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L Motherboard
350W PSU
AMD RX 460 Gigabyte Windforce GPU 2GB

The crash is probably due to the Power supply and not the CPU, you need to look at a 450-500W unit for that GPU.

Moving to a Q9XXX will make a difference in newer titles as they like to use up to 4 cores, currently you have only 2.

I would suggest upgrading that Power supply and upgrading the CPU then look at overclocking a bit. With a decent cooler 3.5ghz should be easy to hit and will make quite a impact on your FPS. Don't sweet the cost of the CPU, when your ready to do a complete upgrade you can resell the CPU/MB/RAM and make a profit off it.

If you're satisfied with it's performance, diagnose the issue and figure out why it's crashing. There are plenty of people on here who are willing to help.
