I have a QNAP NAS and want to run a Windows VM. I have zero experience with VMs. I have extra old computers and want to use those licenses for the VMs. I'd like to make an ISO image of my complete laptop system if possible. It would save me alot of trouble since everything is set like I want instead of installing the OS then the other software.
The QNAP NAS has an app that makes it easy to configure a VM from an ISO image. I've successfully gotten a Zorin(?...I haven't used it yet) version of Linux running as a VM, but am having trouble getting Windows installed from scratch. I keep getting a Windows error that drivers are needed. I'm using an ISO image created using the MS media creator, so it's not a whacked package.
I have a XP laptop and a Win8.1 laptop that I want to run as VMs. Life would be real easy if I could make a VM of those systems.
Is it possible to make an ISO of a running system?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.
