I am sure that this subject has been brought up , but I never found an exact answer that would work. I have an IDE 2.5 laptop hdd that I want to hook up to my desktop which is set up using sata. I tried this quite a while ago as I ended up getting the wrong adapter and just gave up. Thanks

Solution
Yes you can, what you need is a 40 pin mini IDE circuit expansion board if the 2.5" drive is IDE form factor to Sata interface, data type connection.

Bellow is a link to exactly what you need to buy.
Simply connect the Ide side into the 2.5" drive and then run a sata cable from the expansion board to any Sata port on your motherboard silversmithy, adding power if required.

Problem solved ? ;)
