Hello guys this is my first post.
I'm about to build a new gaming PC, and I've already bought several components (Mobo, RAM, processor etc), but I'm having some confusion as to which GPU would be good for this build, and also which corresponding PSU should I get to handle this rig?
Right now my choice is between the GTX 1060 and the GTX 1070 along with a 650-700 watt PSU, though I'm not sure which GPU would be good to run all, or atleast all of the games that were released from 2013 till last year in 1080p with ultra settings.
Any suggestions?
The components I've bought :-
Motherboard : Asus B150M Pro Gaming - LGA1151 - 6th Generation MotherBoard
RAM : 2 X Hyperx Performance Gaming Black 4 GB DDR 4 -2133
CPU : Intel i7-6700k LGA1151 4.0 GHz Skylake Processor
HDD : Seagate Barracuda 1TB

what's your budget? $1500? also, why do you pair an unlocked i7 with a b150 motherboard?? it makes no sense as you'll not be able to overclock that cpu... to overclock you need Z series mobos (z170 in this case) but i doubt you know how to overclock am i wrong?

hey man welcome to the forums.

for 1080p gaming, get the gtx 1060 .
you will be able to game every game with mods on 1080p ultra 60fps.

about the wattage, its meaningless.
theres a difference in poweruspplies in terms of quality and stability.
thats why there are 30 dollar 500w psus and 100 dollar w psus.
You wouldnt get close to 650w in your wildest dreams with a gtx 1070 and an overclocked cpu.

so what budget have you got? also i recommand you to buy a ssd for your os and applications, you will notice the difference.

It's got a higher stock clock.

Performance-wise the GTX 1060 (6gb) compared to the RX 480 yields a marginal performance increase in some games for what? $50! it's simply just not worth it... besides, AMD's chip has an advantage in dx12/vulkan titles beacuse of it's arquitecture.

Should have clarified that I'm from India, not the U.S.
Regarding the mobo, I bought that before I bought the CPU, and also because given my early budget constraints, it was the only one that looked cheap. I did want to go for a z170, but I din't give the mobo too much thought as I've no plans to overclock the i7 anytime soon. As long as it's giving me the base clock, that should suffice for now.

so you pay $100+ over an i5 for just a few more mhz? just for then to be paired with a mobo that can't overclock? yeah sure we all like to burn money for no reason xD

then i would suggest to get an i5-6500 as games don't benefit from hyperthreading besides, you don'y intend to overclock so why bother overpaying for just a few mhz? almost all games today are GPU bound so save money and try to get a GTX 1070

regarding your original question... any psu from seasonic would be a great option. like this one

EDIT: i didn't realize you already bought the i7... my mistake

On most of the forums, I've read that you don't really need an i7 for gaming, and that an i5 with a high-performance GPU would simply do the trick.
But I decided to screw that anyway and get the i7. As I replied before, I've no plans to overclock the i7 anytime soon. I just want the games to run smoothly without lag and stutter, as it does on my current GPU.
I hope I haven't made a mistake buying the i7 :??::??:

That's fine, though I did give the CPU some serious thought before buying it. The overclocking part isn't important now, though if I wanted to, I could get a better mobo later.
As for the GPU, my first choice was the MSi 1060 Gaming X, but I've also been looking into the ROG-STRIX version of the same (both 1060 and 1070). Any thoughts on that?

Well the budget is in Rs. so the USD value would be confusing :p
Either way I'm not concerned about the price as even with the budget I have, it's still going to be affordable. If I were to be more specific, I would like a suggestion of a good PSU which can handle the ROG-STRIX 1070 (or the Founder's Edition) easily without the card complaining about not getting enough juice.
Say, what would be a good PSU in the 600-700 watt range?

Personally, if on more of a budget i5/i5k, if you can afford it i7k, I wouldn't bother with an i7non-k. The clock speed bump is to beneficial for so little cost.

its Stupid to get a 600-700w psu. youre so way better off with a quality 500w psu.
