1080p
single channel 8gb ram
100% usage in all games cpu
gpu max 60%
i get 60fps but not what I expected

Solution
Yeah, if you want something like 144FPS, you need to have an i7 for a lot of newer triple A titles, and even then that might not be enough, some games are too heavily CPU bound to get really high framerates but don't scale across lots of cores and threads and you will hit a CPU bottleneck no matter what CPU you have.

The 1070 is more of a 1440p 60 FPS card. If you are targeting 1080p 144FPS because you have a 144Hz monitor you're probably going to want to get a 6700k or 7700k.

Yoru CPU ain't bottlenecking anything. Turn off vsync and any other locked framerates.

You'll observe that your CPU stays at 100% but the framerate and the GPU load should go up .

The fact that the CPU is at 100% doesn't actually mean it's bottlenecking something.

If the CPU usage is at 100%, it would likely mean he has another application going or a virus, because games do not hit 100% usage on the CPU. Maybe on 1 core, but not on 4. If the game did some how use it all (I recall one game that did this), that would mean it is incapable of preparing more FPS than is being rendered already, and even if V-sync was on, turning it off would do nothing to help increase FPS, as the CPU is at it's limit already.

Logged in to literally say do not listen to this guy.... 6600k overclocked to 4.4 is completely fine for 144hz but it depends on what games you're playing don't expect that kind of FPS in games like ArmA 3 ect. The 1070 is the perfect card for 1080p 144hz look on any forum regarding this and most will say so. Even if you have to turn some settings down it is more than capable and you should expect to have to do that unless you're buying a thousand dollar card like the 1080ti.

Also people with 1 stick of ram are having the same problems as you from what I've read so for anyone else reading this try upgrading to another identical stick of ram it may help. Having high memory usage can completely destroy your fps
