Gaming rig...first build...possible 21:9

I suggest you hold off for Ryzen to launch in 2 days. If it gives Intel a good run you could see some better prices and possible an i7 with Z170. I would suggest spring for a higher end CPU and motherboard than a GPU. GPU's are things you upgrade more often.

Wait for Ryzen, and Vega, as well, if you can. Not too far off, more options for you, and will hopefully allow you to save some cash regardless of choice. If your current sys can hold out a bit longer, wait for those releases as well as some benchmarks before you make your choice.

Ok.... Probs. I have the Mobo, PSU and case already. Pretty set with Skylake for now. I would like to wait, but I need a computer as I am splitting time between homes and have a surface pro only here. Looking to get this thing built in the next couple weeks. My NEXT build.... Which will be part drafting compy (autocad, Maya, and Revit) for my wife will be a Ryzen build most likely.

Accepting all that... RX480 or would GTX 1070 make sense given difference is $180 approx. Sorry about incorrect price difference before... Too much whiskey.

As for GPU that's almost all up to you. Nvidia GPU's have been noted as more reliable than AMD's but AMD still makes some killer GPUs. And as for monitor. I have a 21:9 and I have to say I love it. Running programs, desktop layout, multiple windows open at once, work and look beautiful. But, some early access games or even some main titles don't support this aspect ratio forcing you to play with black bars, which isn't too bad but a big step back from 21:9.
Here's my monitor-- https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824025212R. (On the cheaper side and looks great wall mounted ;))

I'd like to, but it requires a patch for the bios to run it. Since I already have the mobo in hand I was thinking of just going i5 6500. I could put another processor in just to get the bios update and replace, but not sure I want to go through the extra trouble or expense. Any easier way to update the bios?

first ask newegg with which bios that mobo ships with if its not the latest, y not ask ur local computer store to do that? give him like 5 bucks for 30min of his time? dunno how its done there but i can definitely get that done here in india ;)

According to recent buyers it looks like it comes needing the BIOS update. I will look into the computer store idea though. If not, I don't feel I'm missing that much going 6500 vs 7500. I watched some head 2 heads and it may make more of a difference down the road, but for now it was just a 0-7 fps difference depending on the title. That was all at 1080p, so not sure the impact at high resolution.

Also...decided to forego 21:9. Can get more monitor for your money @ 16:9 and given that I will likely be using this monitor as a TV as well as computer monitor, 16:9 makes the most sense.
