Hi,

I have been trying to clone a disk with bad sectors to another disk for about 2 weeks now and have had nothing but failures. I have tried a number of different ways listed below and would really appreciate assistance. I have tried defragmenting and error checking.

Macrium Reflect- program gets 'stuck' at ~44% of a clone every time
EaseUS- also gets stuck at a certain %
XXClone- gave me a message that it cannot clone drives with bad sectors.
AOMEI Partition- gave me a message that it cannot clone drives with bad sectors unless I check 'clone sector by sector'. When I check the box, the clone is reading that it will take over 1200 hours.
CloneZilla- during its process, it read that bad sectors were encountered and it said to do a "--rescue" command to help. When it finished, the laptop would not boot the HDD, reading that there is no operating system on the hard disk.

Some threads say that cloning with bad sectors isn't possible, some say they do, I am beyond confused and would appreciate any help. Thank you.

EaseUS sector by sector clone enables to clone hard drive with bad sectors

Disk cloning software usually works for events when you upgrade hard disk from a smaller one to a larger one, or from an old one to a new one. By cloning operating system, installed programs, files, mails, photos and other data would largely save time and energy to reinstall them. But once your old hard drive is diagnosed with bad sectors, most of the time, the cloning procedure will be interrupted immediately. Thus, to find a powerful disk and partition cloning software that can clone bad sectors becomes significantly important.

It is possible to clone a drive with bad sectors. In data recovery or forensic we do that all the time.
Anyway, what you need is a sofware that can read, analyse and copy sectors by sectors on a low level. If the sector is not good it also need to be able to read it "both side" then maybe leave it behind....
Try HDD Raw Copy tool from hddguru.....this is free and low level....

Taking bad sectors into consideration, EaseUS Todo Backup, known as the best backup software and disk/partition cloning software in the market, provides a unique cloning feature called sector by sector clone. When the software detects blank or logically bad sectors from the source disk, it won't cede the process but working on the bad sectors cloning without interruption.

I think Todo has a free version but I don't know if that has the facility. They were giving away Todo instead of going to the free Disk Copy page recently, maybe they still are. Also there's Easeus Disk Copy with sector-by-sector but someone reported problems with bad sector cloning. Check for a free version of Todo, or ask Easeus if Disk Copy (free) will do it. I can include the whole email in this thread or forward it to you
