I'm upgrading to 1050 and have a spare pcie slot. What can i do with the 650, is dedicated PhysX still a thing?
Also, how will I5 2400 + GTX1050 handle current day medium-high 1080p 60hz gaming?

Solution
I think dedicated PhysX is still a thing, but I don't think you'll see any big performance gains from it. I don't remember, all I remember is reading that it wasn't really worth the trouble. Plus, still not that many games use PhysX anyway.

An i5 2400 and a 1050 should be pretty decent. They should let you hit medium settings for sure, but don't expect anything too high. A 1050ti or 1060 would be better...

I remember some kind of test being done and you'd need a card newer and more powerful to get any boost out of it as a Physx card. The performance you get from that CPU/GPU combo will be low/medium settings but good. That's due to the 2gb vram being a limiting factor in current games. Esports type games of course will be playable at high settings.
