I am waiting for my 7700k, and im replacing my i5 6500 because my friend purchased it from me. I have the 212 evo cooler, and i wont be able to get another cooler for a while, and i am hoping that the 212 evo is good enough to cool this processor.
It'll will work for know but I don't suggest you to OC with it. 4.5ghz turbo is enough on that cooler for a i7 7700k.
ok and dio u think the 7700k will still be decent cpu since the ryzen 1700 is suppose to b better. should i return the 7700k because it wont get here untill the 5th so i have 30 days to return it.
also with the 212 evo and the 7700k at stock temps wat should i idle and what should i get under full load
Temps depend on more than your cooler only (airflow, fan positioning, cable management) as for ryzen being better we'll find out tomorrow. Today we can't answer that part

I'm using a 212 evo with a 7700k right now, its fine at stock. Playing bf1 maxed out 1080p temps barely exceed 60-65c. You could do a small overclock assuming you don'y need to up the voltage that much.
Most retailers will not let you return a cpu for cash, only for a replacement. I also doubt the r7 1700 will beat out a 7700k in gaming, it will in multicore performance but I doubt it will in gaming. We shall see.
If you want to do some Google work AMD did release some 1700vs7700k gaming benchmarks late yesterday. It's a bit worse but performs admirably with its clock speed
