install a second hdd

my hdd is 500gb and i have another one in an unused pc which is 320 , i want to install the 320 one in my pc while still having the 500gb one as the one having the OS. Please help me with the steps. Thanks !

turn off you pc
remove the side panel
screw the new hdd to the hdd cage
connect the sata and power cable

if you want to resize you new partitions got to the disk management to modify or format partitions

1. Determine what the data interface is on both hard drives to confirm it can be installed. Is it SATA, IDE?
2. make sure you have available power and data cables and interface port on the motherboard or cable (IDE)
3. power down system and install hardware
4. Boot system and open disk management to initialize and format the drive, If it has partition that cannot be deleted, wipe the drive

so i had a problem i guess its not that bad, after i installed the new HD it worked fine so i just disconnected it to fix it on the side panel the re-connected it back again but this time when i turned on my pc the pc after a second or two turned off and the power connector from the power supply had about 2 pins melted as well as the HD
so right now that power connector is no more working ?
