1080ti For Mass effect Andromeda.. - Also Bottleneck?

Hi guys

I was going to buy a 1080 to replace my Zotac AMP! 780 in time for mass effect andromeda - I've had a look around and as far as I can see I can get the new 1080ti founders edition for pretty much the same price as a 1080.

Should I get the founders edition, or is it worth waiting until the aftermarket cards are released?

Also how much price difference does there tend to be from the founders edition and the aftermarket overclocks? If I was going to get an aftermarket one I'd probably go with Zotac, just because I've always had fantastic experiences with these guys.

I understand that a 1080ti even at base clock is probably overkill for most games - I'm asking from the perspective of value for money more than anything !

Finally as a sub question - Will I experience bottleneck with my current CPU? I have an i5 quad core overclocked to 4.2ghz.

Thanks in advance for your replies :)

'' can inform you that the I5 cant handle the GTX 1080 ti at low res. ''

well???? confirm it then

I see from here in the 1080p test the i7 just handles the physics part better but the card / graphics parts are all close to the same

i5-4690 - Graphics Score 30 414

i7-4790 - Graphics Score 31 262

the stock boost of the i7 is higher then the i5 on top of that so that affects the total score as well ???

unless you plan to play at 4k yes, at 1080p you would be cpu bound

You can OC the FE edition to match whatever factory overclock comes out on the aftermarket cards so long as you can keeps temps and be within a minimal gap of performance between the two, if any.

The only real benefit of the partner cards are the cooling solutions, but honestly my FE TI is running colder than my last partner card (Strix 1070) with less % fans....but I also run a couple hundred MHz less on average (GPU boost goes up and down on its own) than I did with the 1070, about 1800 or so on the TI. I ran a hard OC on the 1070 and ran right at 2000-2100 all the time.

There will be no premium for a FE with the TI, so partner cards are supposed to release at 699 just like the FE 1080TI. IF you can get one it may be worth it to wait, but that's IF you can get one, and I'd expect the partner cards to suffer the same gouging we always see.

I pre-ordered my 1080TI from NVIDIA for this very reason, to ride out the gouging IF partners come out with better options THAT REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE and take a small hit to trade up.

the higher the resolution is the more FPS hit your going to see anyway ??? at 1080p it should fly compared to 4k by a lot
