Will putting a gen 7 cpu into a gen 6 mobo cause bios to not boot up?
If so, how do I boot into bios and update it?
I do not have a gen 6 cpu in my possession currently.

Solution
It depends on the BIOS of the gen 6 board. Some of ones that you get now when ordering or picking one up should be able to handle a Kaby Lake chip, but if it's been sitting on the shelf for a while then it might not. If it has an old BIOS and you don't have a 6th gen chip then you're out of luck, there's nothing you can do except return it or take it to a computer shop to see if they can update it for you.

I brought back the mobo to the shop and they kindly updated the bios with their gen 6 CPU. It's working well now. Thanks for the help.
