Hi guys, currently im Using an External HDD Enclosure 2.5" SATA USB 2.0
The HDD inside is a SATA Toshiba 500gb 5400rpm 5Yrs. Old
Connected to a USB 2.0 Laptop
Specs
i5 2410
6gb ram
Gt 635m

When im transferring files the speed is only 2.88MegaByte per second
which for me is really low
I have another external hdd (no enclosure) usb 3.0 but connected to a usb 2.0 socket in the laptop which has speed of constant 30MegaByte per second
Is the hard drive on my enclosure failing or something due to oldness therefore transfer speeds is really low?
Thanks

Solution
The theoretical max transfer speed of USB2 is 53MB/s, but is the real world is probably half that and your old drive can provide more data than it can handle.

I would guess that the drive could be faulty and is constantly having to do read error correction.
