I am currently using a Socket 775 - NVIDIA GeForce® 7150 / nForce 630i - GA-73UM-S2H (rev.1.0) and upgraded from an Intel Duel core E2200 to a Intel core 2 quad Q9550. The bios only recognizes the new processor as a generic Intel 4. I was running 64 bit windows with the E2200 after installing the Q9550 the OS was freezing on the windows logo. After some fiddling that did not work I installed the 32 bit OS with no problems. The 32 bit OS (windows 10) recognizes the processor as the Q9550 (even that it is 64 bit). So I went to reinstall the 64 bit OS. It loads the files but hangs at the windows logo. My bios is American Megatrends version 080015 date 08/14/2008,(and have never updated it). I noticed on your website for my motherboard that the Q9550 is compatible with this motherboard after the the GigaBytes bios revision F8b (beta) last possible GigaBytes bios update for my Motherboard. My E2200 was compatible with GigaBytes bios revision F5 (why do I have an American Megatrends bios and not a GigaByte bios. My question is do I need to flash my bios so that the bios will recognize the the Q9550 properly (bios recognized the E2200 as an "Intel E2200 dual core @ 2.20 GHz" on the bios post screen). I can not find an updated bios from American Megatrends that supports my processor, can I flash/replace it with the GigaBytes bios and if so can I do it with just the F8b (beta) or do I need to replace it with the First bios and work my way up the updates; or start with the last non beta bios then update it with the beta bios

If you are feeling lucky, try THIS from HERE as it should be new enough to support the newer CPU and is hosted on an ancient XFX ftp site with your model number. It is also available as an iso image, not sure why as I never bought an NVIDIA based board, as I stick with Intel or AMD chipsets.

No guarantees, but your other option is to not use the new CPU.

And you shared everything, right? This is not like a Dell machine with those parts?

That CPU only needs bios F3 or higher on that board, so with the old CPU in just update it to F3 or later -- you do not have to go one at a time just pick the one you want and use it. Then put in the new CPU and you should be good to go.

Download the new bios from HERE.

Okay thank you one more question however, you said pick the one I want an use it then put the new processor in. Unfortunately I did try to see if the boot freeze would continue on the older processor and it wouldn't even post the fan would start for a second and then the system would power down can I flash the bios with the new processor in it

You cannot flash the bios unless the machine will boot and is reliably stable -- a failed bios update is not fun.

You should be able to clear the CMOS (bios chip) and then use the old CPU. You can either remove the bios battery and unplug the computer or short the CMOS clear pins on the motherboard.

Okay so I got the original hard drive to work while I switched back to the E2200 I set the CMOS jumper to clear the bios. Got into windows and downloaded the F8b bios update to a flash drive along with advflash after using Rufus to make a bootable USB rebooted the system ran advflash and it eroded out with on the flash with trying to save the old bios and without. When this failed several times I used GigaBytes in OS BIOS flash @BIOS which when loaded said I needed to use it on a Gigabyte chipset. I tried anyways it said it flashed it and had to reboot. Upon reboot it still booted with the old BIOS so I did it again and again it booted with the old bios. So at this point getting quite aggregated I called GigaBytes tech support. After politely talking with them they said they couldn't help me because

1. It has an AMI BIOS
2. Even though it's a GigaByte chipset it was manufactured by PNY

So I called PNY tech support they could not help me for they haven't manufactured motherboards in at least 10 years and have no copies of bios files or anything else from the motherboards they use to produce.

I tried one last flash but this time with the AMI BIOS\UEIF firmwear support that flashed the motherboard but apparently flashed it with the BIOS already on it

So does any one know of a good DOS BIOS flash I can use to flash my bios with the F8b bios for my PNY GigaByte NVIDIA GeForce® 7150 / nForce 630i motherboard with a AMI BIOS.

the web site does say if problem downloading bios version to download from asia link (http://download.gigabyte.asia/FileList/BIOS/motherboard_bios_ga-73um-s2h_f8b.exe) did you try that one? it is the F8B link from Asia download link for your motherboard manufacturers bios page located at http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-73UM-S2H-rev-10#support-dl

NB : Manufacturer states *For updating motherboard BIOS, please use @BIOS or Q-Flash utility to process.

I will try the Asia download when I get home however I didn't have an issue downloading the BIOS the issue was with the flash so I don't know how the Asia driver will be better but like I said I will try that.

Q-flash however does say that it's encoded into the bios and I could not find a download for it. I also have no F8 option in my bios for a flash utility. I also tried the "end" key during the post and that also did not bring up a flash utility any other possible options?

@BIOS was tried but didn't work cant remember the specific error message will try again to get that.

I will try the Asia download, however I do have something that is bothering me. My processor is copyrighted 2006 but it's not being identified by a BIOS that is copyrighted 2008 yet the BIOS recognizes a Hard drive copyrighted 2012 I don't understand this?

So another question when I go to flash the BIOS should I have the CMOS clear jumper on the clear position. I do have a duel BIOS so I am not worried about haveing to flash from the second BIOS.

Also as another note I can find a different bios for my exact type of motherboard at GigaBytes, XFXforce, and AMI so as a reminder this is up to apparently a PNY GIGABYTES XFXforce Nvidia GeForce 7150 Nforce 630i with an AMI BIOS

When you clear the bios you only do that briefly then return to the normal position -- do not leave it in the clear position.

You need to provide the precise information on your motherboard model, as you cannot use a bios for other models or brands.

Well then real beast i have a sticker that says "PNY technologies, Inc. Nforce 630i GeForce 7150 MBM630i7150". PNY doesn't have anywhere to download a BIOS and when I called there tech support they said they didn't have any drivers from when they did manufacture Motherboards. In my # Days of scouring the internet I have yet to find a BIOS I guess i can only hope that there is someone out that that happens to have a copy. I just found some new numbers #135054 and M630i7150EM3FAC322BA PO# was above my MoBo serial number and ther other was below it
