Keep using Asus z87k or get Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3 or ASUS Z97-K

Yep! I am still using that 3 yr old Asus z87K with the i7 4790K (with the latest bios, of course)
So I am wondering if upgrading to either Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3 or ASUS Z97-K would give better performance or stability.
These are like the only mobos that I could find that still support the old Haswell i7s.
I've heard the Gigabyte card is not that good but quite cheap while the Asus cost about 40 USD more

Solution
the only practical difference between your MB and Z97-K is the presence of M.2 slot. well also native support for NVMe drives boot (which can be added to Z87 as well).
there is no reason to waste your money on it. treat your self with an SSD or better GPU.
your CPU is still awesome performer. And it will be for at least few years more.

I am not interested in m.2 ssds, yet. don't think its much better than my current SATA samsung 850 evo ssds for thing that I do, mainly gaming and photo editing.
So i guess just because the Z87 wasn't made for the i7 4790K doesn't mean it slows it down or making the system less stable, right?

It's true that my current gpu, gtx 970, is a bit weak but im waiting for the price of the current Pascal cards to go down :D

thing between the z87 and 97 is like said above and native support for haswell refresh CPU's

like my 980 it and a gtx 1080 is not that great of difference using the same set up ? not worth another 500 buck investment

now think the pascals are so high clocked so what if I were to be able to match there clocking ??? 1080 at 2,114 MHz my 980 ti at 1375 ???

I'm not impressed

from what i've seen in the videos comparing the older 900 series to the Pascal cards your 980ti performs very similarly to the gtx 1070. The gtx 1080 is only like 500 bucks now so I ordered one two days ago. Hopefully this time I won't have to worry about upgrading for at least two years.

I also found a good deal on Samsung 850 EVO 1tb mSata ssd
do you know if my Asus z87K support mSata?
