Hi i got a asus P5GC-MX motherboard now i want to upgrade the cpu with Core 2 Duo E8400 after i checked the asus official website https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5GCMX/HelpDesk_CPU/ i found out that :
Due to chipset limitation, 1333FSB processors can only run at a maxium speed of 1066FSB on this motherboard.
What will this chipset limitation will do to my computer i mean will it overclock my pc or just run at 1066FSB without any other issue ?
PS. I also find this processor Core 2 Duo E7300 without fsb limitation
What should i take e7300 or e8400 ?

I assume out of the box stock it will only run 1066 but I assume by this it can be overclocked to 1333 ??

Front Side Bus

*1333 / 1066 / 800 / 533 MHz

(*1333 MHz when overclocking)

like here I guess this guy got up to 1424 ? [6th post down and your board /joncrane ]

1GB A-DATA DDR2-667 1 stick
Multiplier 9
FSB Setting 356
FSB (In terms of 1333 figure): 1424 MHz

looks like you invest in what you want to try and go for it ? it will work out or it will not ??

as far as running the cpu at 1066 I assume asus would not of added it to the cpu support list and its supporting bios need if it did not work properly
