This isn't completely with graphics cards, but it mainly is.

I got a new computer about a month ago and got a new case, cpu, gpu, psu, ram, and mother board. The parts alone costed about $1100 in australia, so i got my friend to give me a new hard drive, but he wasn't around when i bought the parts, so i got a pretty old hard drive from my old $50 computer from a school and put it right into the new one.

People said that it wouldn't work unless you use it as only storage, but when i turned on my computer, windows was on it, my old stuff was on it, and i just had to install the drivers to play. I thought everything was ok, but it was slower than imagined and had some problems but i was fine because i thought it was ok. Now i do a steam survey and it says i have a Driver: Intel(R) HD Graphics 53 when i have: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/t898TW/sapphire-radeon-rx-470-8gb-nitro-video-card-11256-02. I am pretty sure this is because of the hard drive but i just wanted to know for sure. Is this making my computer slower? Please, this is my first computer and i really just want some answers.

I haven't got a complete list of the things i got because the people were out of stock on certain things, but here are the names i guess:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600 CPU @ 3.30GHz
Motherboard: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/rLs8TW/msi-motherboard-h110mgaming
GPU:https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/t898TW/sapphire-radeon-rx-470-8gb-nitro-video-card-11256-02

I also thought uninstalling some drivers would help because the computer thinks the parts are still in, i uninstalled nvidia and didn't know what else. Just general stuff i should uninstall.
I hope you can help me, again, first computer.

Solution
Your PC needs a clean INSTALL to run correctly.

There are bound to be driver conflicts with what you did.

Fresh install with the correct drivers will get you the performance you need.
