Long story short, I have a Asus x53s (Windows 7) for quite sometime now, and an upgrade is necessary. I recently got a Lenovo Ideapad y700(Windows 10) from a sale. I don't feel like backing up all my files from my Asus and transferring it to the Lenovo.

My question is:

Is it plausible if I just swap the SSD's of the two computers? I don't mind sticking to Windows 7. As long as it works, I am happy.

Solution

Not gonna work.

1. It will almost certainly fail to boot.
2. If it does, activation (licensing) will fail.

Ya know...you should be doing this anyway. New laptop or no.
