So I have an i7 7700k with evo 212 cooler with custom fans and a nzxt case atx tower. In windows the temp readings spike when I go to do something, compared to amd fx 8350 I never seen a cpu go 30c to 62c. Is it a faulty CPU or windows? In my bios it reads as a steady 30 - 32c? I cant figure this out I dont know if its windows or what please help.

Solution
the temperature in your bios will be different from in windows you wont see full load in the bios

the 7700k runs a bit hotter than skylake cpus did

its also prone to sudden temperature spikes

it will run hotter than you are used to with an amd cpu

at least far as i remember havent used amd cpu in years
When you say "do something", what do you mean? Those 7700K can get hot under load, and that's an OK cooler you have but it's hardly premium. 60 degrees is actually pretty decent for a 100% load temperature for you CPU and cooling combo... BUT, if it spikes to 60 degrees from a light workload, that's a bit more concerning.

Run a stress test like IBT, Aida64 or OCCT and watch your temps closely. Stop the test if you start getting high 80s or into the 90s. Post back with the results.

Okay... so run the stress tests and see what happens. It's only a "problem" if the CPU is approaching throttling. 60 degrees is absolutely fine. Does it get hotter under sustained loads? That's the real question.
