I don't know if it's good or bad

I have an acer AM5100-U5201A
1 gb DDR2 memory
320 gb sata hard disk

The computer is old but has been up to date. It has windows 7 on it. It comes to the windows start up screen and stops does not go any further it jus stops. Whathe is the problem and how can it be fixed?

By stop do you mean it hangs up/freezes at that screen? or does the system turns off, that is, power down? If the former then it's possible that the OS is corrupt or the HDD is failing or that the OS is corrupt. If the latter then it's possible that the PSU has given way to wear and tear and is incapable of delivering power to your system.

If you have a recovery disk and no critical data on the OS directory, you could try reinstalling your OS and see if any progress is made.
