Help please,

I have a corsair h100i gtx v2 cpu cooler mounted in push on top of my h440 tower. It is only about 1.5 years old and has been used solely for gaming. Recently the numbers coming from corsair link monitoring software shows the pumps rpms all over the place. Normally during gaming sessions I run on performance settings I get anywhere from 1000rpm to 1700rpm on the pump which is definitely lower then it used to be. My pump temp sits at 45-50c, my cpu temps 35-40c all reasonable. After about an hour the temps start to climb pump goes to 60c cpu hit mid 50s. When I check my pump rpms there down to 440rpm and they dont go any higher till i exit out of the game and restart the computer. If i switch to quiet performance the pump goes down to 0 then occasionly will climb to 400rmp. It wiil then bounce all over the place 0, 400, 880, 0 550, 0 etc. My question or concern could this be the start of my pump failing? Or could this be another issue? It really makes no sense to me as I sit here and write this on idle the pump is at 1300rpm temp on the rad is 40c on performance settings. Things appear to be fine but as soon as I start a game things go all wacky. Do you think re-applying thermal paste might help or again its a pump problem. Any help that i can get would be much appreciated. Just to note I have used other monitoring software to rule out it being a corsair link issue, thanks in advance! I didnt mention my fans are on balanced mode and run 1500-2200rpm.

Solution
I would RMA, that's a faulty cooler indefinitely.

But, you CAN keep using the cooler until it dies, it won't hurt anything, only your CPU temps will constantly be peaking in the 80C range eventually.

No pump does not sound weird at all when it goes that low. I just tried reapplying thermal paste just for ha ha's but still the same deal. Going to have to rma but i hope it hasn't been to long to do so. Honestly speaking makes me really nervous to even get another corsair cooler. Any suggestions on another brand if I was to go that aio route again?

I've been building with PCs with Corsair H60, H80i, H100i, H105, and H115i GT. Only ONE H100i (mine actually) went bad (replaced with H105 and it hasn't let me down in 3.5 years). So Corsair is still a good brand. But I understand if you want something different still, I highly recommend the Kraken X61 or X62. Another good one is Cooler Master and Thermaltake.

Ok so here is what makes no apparent sense, I have been playing another game for the same amount of time and all the temps are fine 45c rpms on the pump are running 1200-1400 low but still ok. Now this game im running 1080p ultra settings the other game I was running 4k on high settings. This is probably a noob question but would that matter? I know 4k is obviously more stressful but should that matter for the cooler? This is why its confusing me but as you said the pump should not be going down to 0 rpms. Btw thanks for the help I really do appreciate it.

I had a 7 hour gaming session last night without any issues. This morning I played deadspace 3 which is the game giving me the high temps for about an hour and the same thing happened. Pump went down to 400rpm and the temps shot up on the cpu and the cooler. Restarted the computer then tried 2 different games and the pump went back up to 1200rpm and temps stabilized. I honestly dont want to have to rma the cooler if its not broken. But with the wild fluctuations in pump rpm speed do you think its safe to say my pump is failing? Or could something else cause it to act erratic maybe a power problem or a bad sensor, if there is such a thing. It would be so much easier if this just failed on all games then I would know for sure what the problem was. But leave it to life to throw you a curve ball.

No 80c is way to high for me I like my temps in the 30-50c range. But thanks for everything unfortunately thats what I will have to do at this point. If I cant get corsair to fix it then I am going to try out the Nzxt Kraken.
