Hello,

I have the Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2PV DDR3 (http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-H110M-S2PV-DDR3-rev-10#ov) motherboard with a Skylake chip currently installed, working fine. On the support page of the link I gave, there is a BIOS section with BIOS version F20a claiming to provide support for 7th gen Intel chips.

My question is simply, will the G4560 work with this motherboard and ddr3 RAM while using BIOS version F20a?

From what I understand, Kaby Lake processors are just Skylake chips with higher clock speeds (same architecture and design), so to me it seems like it should work.

Any help or input is appreciated.

There's 0 reason to buy a pentium over your i5. The 6600k performs only a little worse than the 7600k, about 5-10% clock for clock.
Your upgrade plan sounds like a good idea, get these.

I'm actually running an i5-6600k on that ddr3 board. Back when I built my system, I ran out of cash and decided to cheap out on the mobo and reuse my old RAM. I'm going to upgrade my motherboard to a Z170, get some ddr4, and make a ddr3 Pentium build with this motherboard and give it away to my family for a decent gaming machine.

Thanks for the help! I'll go ahead and make the purchases and update this thread if I remember to, in order to confirm if it worked or not. Anyone else feel free to weigh in if you'd like.
