Hi,

My wife's laptop (Fuijitsu Lifebook A series) AH512 has been offered an upgrade to Windows 10 for over a year now and it tries every few days and fails. It rolls back all the updates and remains as it were on Windows 8.1.

I have tried turning off the firewall, uninstalling virus protection and windows defender is off.

I have tried msconfig then selective start up. It made me open the task manager and I have all disabled apart from RealTek HD audio, persistance module, igfxTray Module, hkcmd module, HD Audio Background (Realtek), Deskupdate notifier, btmshell, Avgui, Alps-pointing device, Fujitsu battery check tool. I didn't really know what most of these were so wasn't sure whether to disable all of these too or if it would help

I have uninstalled itunes

I have 25.4GB of space on the C: drive

It has 4GB of memory 64 bit intel core i3-2328M CPU @ 2.2GHz 2.2Ghz

I can't find any other ideas from searching; is there anything else I can do? Thanks for reading, this is a last resort as I feel like I've done all I can

It's just the "failed configuring windows updates undoing changes" message. There's a list of 17 failed and important updates. I can see you can do a refresh and retain files, but maybe I wouldn't get the opportunity for the upgrade any longer. I wonder if it best just to do it since WIndows 10 keys are cheap enough on Ebay
