So the 1080 TI Founders Edition is available now for pre-order on nvidia website for $699.
Should I pre-order this card? or instead purchase the 1080 Founders Edition for $549 from there web-site?

I looked at newegg website and there 1080 prices have not dropped yet.
Or should I wait for prices to drop on newegg, and get a non Founders Edition for under $549 assuming they drop below this.

Also, ordering the 1080 Founders Edition from Nvidia get's either For Honor or Ghost Recon:Wildlands for free with the purchase.

Solution
I personally would wait for EVGA, ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, and the others to get their 1080 Ti models out before ordering anything.

If this is anything like the other Founder's Edition cards there will be third party cards that are $50-$100 cheaper, have better cooling, more power phases, and factory overclocks. You can get a Founders Edition card if that's what you prefer but the other models are a better value.

the reference does not get "founder" price this time around. cheapest 1080ti starts at $699.

Another thing between the prices while the 1080 Founders Edition is $549 with the free game. If you factor this game which sells for $60 on Amazon.
It's more like purchasing the 1080 Founders Edition for $489, correct?

In that case the price benefit I mentioned doesn't exist but the other cards are still likely to offer better cooling, more power phases, and factory overclocks. Even if they are the same price that still makes them a better value in my opinion.

It is if it's a game you actually want and would have otherwise paid the full $60 for it.

they most likely more expensive than nvidia reference design. except the base model with cheap plastic blower cooler.
