Hi everyone,

I have just finished my first build and it does not work. I will try to describe how far I have get with debugging, please notice I have already come through sticky notes.

My build:

CPU: Intel Core i5-7400 (3,0 GHz, 6MB, LGA 1151) BOX, KabyLake

Motherboard: MB ASUS B150M PRO GAMING

2x RAM: Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz CL14 (HX421C14FB2/8) HyperX Fury Black

CASE: CASE Evolveo Y01

PSU: Enermax NAXN 80+ ENP500AGT 500W

SSD: SSD WD Blue SATA III - 250GB

No graphic card.

I connected everything and double-check that it's connected properly. Flash lights on motherboard are on and also fans, but KB doesn't flash and monitor does not receive any signal (I am connected to HDMI). I get no beeps, but I am sure that speaker works because when I remove RAM I get one long and two short beeps.

I have no spare components for testing, is there any way how to narrow where the problem lies? I think it's one of CPU,motherboard,PSU.

Thanks for any input.

Solution

Correct, it's 0401. No, you need SkyLake CPU to flash BIOS yourself.
It is likely if you have checked all power needed from the cpu to the motherboard is connected as the other poster says Gormal, that the motherboard currently does not have the right bios firmware revision number to support the Kaby Lake cpu you have also bought for you new system build.

As said the board needs to have bios firmware version 0601 Running on the motherboard.

AS written above, plug your wired Keyboard and a wired mouse into your Mobo, and press F2 or DEL to get into the BIOS. If you've done that, check whether you can firstly see all components in your build. CPU, Ram and Storage. Forget about the rest for now.

If you cant even get into the BIOS because there is not Signal, check that the right Input was selected, that the Monitor is well connected etc. If you can still not see anything, try either to use your GPU as the Video source. If that works, your mobo's HDMI may be broken. If None works, check your Monitor. If that one doesn't work, your mobo might be dead...
