I have had GTAV for a while (pre-ordered it on steam) and was wondering if i could duplicate the game so i could have a copy for only mods and another copy as normal as i still play GTO and do not want to be banned i used to do this kind of stuff on older games not cure if i can do it on GTAV

Solution

If you buy two separate copies, then maybe. As long as the CD version isn't registered a Steam game.

*Don't quote me on that though, because I'm not sure about the GAME SAVES. Both versions may try to use the same folder in "Documents".

I don't understand why you don't just try your mods then if that doesn't pan out to reinstall the game (make a Steam BACKUP so you don't have to download it again).

If somehow you were BANNED what does that mean?

Worst-case is you have to buy another copy of the game in which case you are NO WORSE OFF than you would be by getting TWO versions right away.

BANNED probably means your account though, so you can probably make another ROCKSTAR...
Not practical. What I'd do is make a BACKUP of the game (local content) from within Steam so you can RESTORE a vanilla, non-mod copy if you run into problems (so you don't have to download the game again).

Not sure how BANNING works but it would be tied to your account anyway so duplicating wouldn't help you much there. If it's an issue, you'd need to lift the ban then restore the backup.

I didnt miss the question.
If you wanted to mod a client you would be best off doing it on a completely separate game than the one you go online with.

A friend of mine modded his game, got banned online, wiped it and repurchased the game and still got banned again.

I am not sure what to do as steam is where i would likely get the cheapest copy (if i use a online key reseller such as G2A or Kinguin) but i do not want to have to log in and out of 2 accounts it must run alongside my steam copy with mo problems

*And it's MULTIPLAYER only. You can mod single player without reprisal.
