New motherboard, same SSD. How do I format the SSD?

My old motherboard died, and my new one just came in the mail today (different model). I'm going to be using all of my current hardware still, including my SSD... But since my motherboard died, I can't figure out how to properly format my SSD to re-install windows again. I've been reading about certain ways that will damage the SSD or shorten its lifespan so I just want to get some opinions...

Also, I have a windows 8 disk, but it was upgraded to windows 10.. Not sure if i can use the "upgrade" feature on the windows 8 disk?

Thanks!

"...damage the SSD or shorten its lifespan..."

For a wipe and reinstall, this is a non-concern.

No need or possibility to use that Win 8 again. Just do a reinstall with Win 10.

Also, you need to link your OS digital entitlement (the license) to a Microsoft account.
Read and do this:
