Hi, I've been offered to purchase an AMD A4 4000 APU and a motherboard that supports 16 DDR3 GB RAM. The problem is that I already own a ATI Radeon HD 6670 DDR5. Will there be a problem if I use my ATI Radeon HD 6670 with an AMD A4 4000 APU? What other AMD CPU can I use with my Graphics card? I've thought about purchasing one without integrated GPU but I'm not sure what my best option is here. I've also read that I can disable the GPU on AMD CPUs, so I've thought about disabling the AMD A4 4000 GPU in order to use my Radeon HD 6670. I'm not sure what my best option is here.

A regular CPU would be better for demanding uses like gaming and video editing. An APU is better when you need enough GPU power for things like streaming HD video movies and tv, but you don't need the power to run newer games. You buy an APU so you don't have to buy a videocard. You buy a CPU because you either already have a videocard or plan to buy one.

Your best option depends on what you want to do. That A4 is a dual core, and not a fast one however your 6670 1gb isn't exactly super fast either. In that way they make a balanced combo. Chances are that any game that A4 can't handle, your 6670 can't handle. If you got a faster CPU based system, but still used the 6670, then your overall game performance would still be limited to...

To sum it all up, if you want a higher end AMD CPU(that tend to not have integrated graphics) you will also have to buy a motherboard that supports that socket. That AMD A4 4000 CPU you have only fits in a FM2 socket. If you want, for example, an AMD fx 6300, you will have to purchase a motherboard that has an AM3+ socket.

You can switch between whether you want to use integrated graphics or your dedicated 6670 through your settings if you would like. Let me know if you need any more help.
