I'm pretty sure it's compatible, but I wanted to doublecheck. (My previous graphics card, a Radeon HD 6670, worked just fine in it.)
Here are my system specs:
OS: Win 7 64-bit
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640
RAM: 8GB
Motherboard: MSI 760GM-P33
- It has one PCIe 2.0 x16 slot, which the RX 460's PCI Express 3.0 x8 interface is backwards compatible with (I know it's a little slower).
- Not sure if it has a 6-pin power connector, but PC World (link below) says the Gigabyte model doesn't need one anyway.
PSU: Rosewill 400W ATX 2.2 12V Power Supply
- This wattage is low, but I think it's enough: this guy tested an RX 480 on a 400W PSU, and confirmed that 400W was enough power...and the RX 480 he tested is a more powerful card than the RX 460 I'm buying.
GPU (new): Gigabyte Radeon RX 460 4GB
- Of all the different Radeon RX 460 models, I chose the Gigabyte 4GB based on PC World's description: "While the 2GB RX 460s work perfectly with e-sports games, if you want to play traditional games, upgrading to a 4GB model is a worthwhile upgrade. Gigabyte's dual-fan, dual-slot, 4GB special is the shortest card in the lineup thus far at 7.52-inches. It also doesn't have a 6-pin power connector meaning it can draw power from the motherboard. In fact, it's very power efficient, with a real TDP power claim of just 55W. "
Appreciate the help, thank you!
