Monitor Showing No Signal After GPU Upgrade

Salutations,

I am upgrading my GPU from PowerColor Radeon HD 5570 1GB to PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 460 2GB. Sadly, when I tried to boot up my computer, my monitor shows no signal.

Is it because I use DVI to VGA adapter instead of using an actual DVI to VGA cable? Or is it my power supply incapable of running the new GPU?

Or is it my motherboard simply isn't compatible with my newly acquired GPU?

Because my monitor (Samsung SyncMaster SA300 LED) is really, really outdated, forcing me to use the said DVI to VGA adapter.

Power Supply : 380W
Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3220 CPU @ 3.30GHz
Current GPU : PowerColor Radeon HD 5570 1GB
Desired GPU : PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 460 2GB
RAM : 8GB DDR3
Mainboard : ASUS H61M-C

It has DVI-D port. Normal DVI-I to VGA adapter will not work here. You need active converter DVI-D to VGA to make it work.

If you take the graphics card back out of the build and plug your monitor into the onboard, do you still have that issue? If not, i'd suggest ensuring that motherboard is running on the latest bios. This might improve compatibility with your new gpu.

Yes, indeed it is the one I've been getting my hands busy on. Thank you for your answer. I will try to use an active converter tonight and see what happens.

No, it doesn't. Even if I unplugged my new GPU and replugged the old one, it still works. But when I tried to plug my new GPU again, the same problem happened.

I'm suspecting that PSU of yours is way too weak for your system. In order to find out, take this quick test:

Ok, so you either have to swap out the psu or the gpu to troubleshoot and find out which is defective.
