Reuse HDDs in new PC build

Hi - I'm planning on building a new PC. My current PC has a 640GB HDD primary/windows OS drive and a 3TB HDD secondary data drive.

I will buy a new SSD or m2 drive for the primary OS/Windows drive for the new PC.

To start with I would like to reuse the 3TB HDD in my new pc as a secondary data drive and KEEP the data (Libraries) on it. Is it just a case of unplugging it from my old pc and plugging it into my new PC? Assuming I identify it within Windows disk management as D: drive, and redirect the libraries links to the D: drive will that work ok? I have a NAS drive so I can back it up beforehand!

If I wanted to also reuse the current C: drive, if I also plug that in, will windows get confused, because it has Win10 already on it? Would I be better reformatting it in a USB caddy, for example, before connecting it to my new PC? Or is it possible to use it as a E: drive without too much trouble - I will format it anyway as there is no data (I hope) that I need to keep on it.

Any thoughts/help appreciated.
Cheers,
Richard

Connecting the storage drive is easy and should work fine. However, and games on it will have to be reinstalled.

For the HDD with Windows, this shouldn't be of issue as the computer will already have the boot drive specified and so it would be treated as a storage drive that you can do with what you need. You will be able to browse through the drive to check for files you might want to keep before formatting the drive.
