I recently shipped my GPU back to MSI for repair/replace so I've been using an old AMD 4600 card (not great at all but it can run the majority of Dx11 games). At first I installed it and my screen was zoomed in a bunch, the drivers were said to be up-to-date so I thought that it was just my monitor or something and didn't worry about. Then the next day, I uninstalled the card and then reinstalled it via device manager and got these "events".
"device Install requested"
"Driver Service Added (Basic Display)"
"Device Installed (display.inf)"
"Driver Service Added (amdkmdap)"
"Driver Service Added (amdkmdag)"
"Driver Service Added (AMD External Events Utility)"
"Device Installed (c7179335.inf)"
After that, the card worked as expected and ran the games I tried with it. The next day, something happened to my VGA to HDMI cord and my monitor stopped receiving it, so I replaced it with a DVI cable with a VGA converter at the end. Now that I'm using that, my screen has gone back to zoomed in. Uninstalling and reinstalling won't work nor can I get the events states above to trigger. Any ideas?

CPU: i3 6100
Video card: AMD HD 4600
Mobo: MSI z170A Pro
PSU: EVGA 400w White
HDD: 1 TB WD

Solution
Hmmm maybe out your video card back in, and go into BIOS and ensure onboard video is enabled. Save and shut down and just try using the onboard without removing the GPU.

It worked! It took me a while to find the right setting, which ended up being initiate graphic adapter. I had to use IGD instead of PEG.
