Hi guys,

I have a built maybe 20+ PCs over the years but am running into trouble with this build.

The PC is assembled, windows 10 Pro was installed and updated and all drivers were on. When I restarted the PC later I got stuck in a bsod restart loop and couldn't get out of it even following guides online.

I reinstalled windows, installed the drivers and started updating windows. As the updates were installing I went straight back to bsod loop.

I've never seen any of my builds do this, am I getting something wrong or do I have a faulty part? I've checked everything is seated correctly as well.

Any help would be much appreciated.

sorryboi

Try booting with one RAM stick at a time. If that doesn't work, hit F8 at PC startup. Now try the last known configuration, which will do a roll back. If that doesn't work, F8 and go in to safe mode. At last, you can try to reformat the hard drive with the OS.

I have reformatted already and although it gave me access to windows, I got stuck in the loop again when installing windows updates!

Build is an intel i5 6500
Gigabyte motherboard can't remember model
16gb ddr4 corsair
GTX 1050ti
250gb ssd
1 tb spin disk

At the minute I can't do anything as I'm stuck in the bsod restart loop. I can access the bios but don't have f8 as an option to enter safe mode

hmm... i know this is a pain in the... but sometimes your windows install media can be corrupted if you downloaded the iso yourself. try redownloading it and making a fresh installer. then install the os again. be sure to doublecheck all of the options you choose go with your build at the microsoft download page. (example 32/64bit, home/pro ect.

or before you try that, there is usually a setting in the bios for enabling/disabling windows 7 or windows 8.1/10 support. these options do nothing for me but mess stuff up when i enable windows 10 though, so you can give it a try, and if it bugs your system, just reset cmos again

what does the bsod tell you? usually at the very end of the bsod you'll see xxxx_xxxx_xxxx (the x are usually replaced with words)

also when do you get the BSOD . usually it will give it you twice and then tell you windows couldn't start and give you the option to troubleshoot .

when you install windows and it gives you the option to connect to the internet,, skip that part so it cannot connect to do windows updates. that way if it still happens you can rule out it being an update.. or if windows works fine and you don't get bsod you can rule in the update as perhaps the problem.

The PC worked fine both times. The first time it started looping was after all updates and drivers were installed. The second was as I was updating windows (which required a restart and couldn't get back in).
