Will a very thin Cat5 ethernet cable cause problems at 25 feet?

Just wondering what the disadvantages are to having a thinner cat5 cable than a regular one? I just got a deal on 25 feet of cable and it works fine with no problems, but man is it thin. About half the thickness of a regular cat5 cable. Is there any areas this could cause problems down the road or does it not really matter?

Solution

If it works now with no issues, it will continue to work.
Just don't put any sharp bends in it.

The main issue with thin ethernet cable is any wire that is smaller than 24gauge does not meet the standards. This means there is no way to know for sure what distance the cable will work at.
The other issue with those thin cable is they also do not work well with standard ends. You have to be very careful to not have them come loose. Not sure if there are specialized rj45 plugs or not because again this is all non standard stuff.

Thanks Bill001g, good to know. The package they came in is stamped 24 guage, so it must be the insulation around them on the outside that is paper thin then. I will keep an eye on them and use them for backup cables.
