Last night I posted a thread about a mistake I made on my new build, here is the link for those interested:

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3348167/messed.html#19373842

In short, I plugged in one of the ends of my graphics card into the psu and then also plugged in another part on that same cable into another slot on the psu. This caused my pc to shutdown, and will no longer post or do anything with those components in.

I recently tried booting it up from my old set up (old CPU, mobo and ram) which these new parts were replacing, and it worked. Got to the desktop and all. That crossed off the psu, I think. The only issue with this setup was that the heat sink fan would run for a second and then stop running, whereas with the fried setup, the heat sink fan actually does keep running.

With the new (fried) setup, there are lights on the mobo working, all the fans run, but it does not post beep at all. The msi motherboard code is 00 if that helps. Could this still be a motherboard issue?

Unfortunately none of the old components fit in the new motherboard for me to cross test anything. There are also no blown capacitors or burn marks on anything that I can see.

Is it possible the graphics card could also be damaged? When plugged in the fan still works as well as the lights on it respond to whats going on.

Can the ram be fried from the incident?

Thanks for any and all help!
